God and His names

Proverbs 18:10 “The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”

If my personal experience is anything to go by, you are going to be incredibly blessed and helped by this.  Discovering, exploring, meditating on, and declaring the names of God is one of the most enriching of my times in prayer.  After all, it is all about Him and who He is, so that has to be good.

Old Testament Names:

The revelation of God through His Names was always made in response to the needs of His People.  There is no need or situation that man can face that will not find it's answer in God.  He really is sufficient for us.  Even our sins and shortcomings find their solution in Him.  In fact the Names of God are primarily redemptive, restoring us and bringing us back to Him.

Each of the Names of God is a fresh revelation of His nature and all find their fulfillment in Jesus Christ, Who is, after all,  "the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being"

Just as they were powerful times of encounter for the nation of Israel, so they can be for our nation.  Let us declare the revelations of our awesome God through His revealed Names, for the transformation of New Zealand.

Hebrews 1:1-3 “ In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.”
